Blackening Mix: Blackened Macadamia Halibut Nut with Mango and Avocado Salsa

  • Smoked paprika (two teaspoons)
  • Granulated onion (one teaspoon)
  • Sweet paprika (one teaspoon)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (one teaspoon)
  • Granulated garlic (one teaspoon)
  • Dry mustard (½ teaspoon)
  • Dried oregano (½ teaspoon)
  • Cayenne pepper (½ teaspoon)
  • Dried thyme (½ teaspoon)

  • One big mango. Ensure you peel, pit, and chop the mango
  • One small avocado. Also, ensure you peel, pit, and mince the avocado 
  • One large lime (juiced)
  • Honey to taste (one tablespoon)
  • ½ cup of medium jalapeno pepper. Ensure you dice the pepper finely. Use the seeded type if you want. 
  • Freshly diced red onion (three tablespoons)
  • Minced cilantro (three tablespoons)
  • Freshley chopped red bell pepper (¼ cup)


  • Six to eight ounces of Halibut (two pieces). Ensure you remove the skin
  • Olive oil (one tablespoon)
  • Butter (two tablespoons)

It’s straightforward to make this delicious dish. Follow the simple instructions below to make the best Blackened Macadamia Halibut Nut with Mango and Avocado Salsa. 

  • For Your BLACKENING Mix: Mix all the ingredients in a small to medium bowl. Then, put it aside. 
  • For Your SALSA: Mix your salsa ingredients in a small bowl and serve with fish. 
  • FISH: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then, pat your halibut until it becomes dry. Ensure you also generously season the halibut with your BLACKENING mix. 
  • Prepare a medium to high heat and put a cast-iron skillet over until the iron becomes hot. Also, add your oil and butter. Then, carefully add your seasoned fish to the skillet as soon as the butter melts. Leave the fish to cook for two minutes on each side. 
  • Carefully remove the fish from the skillet and move it to a baking pan. 
  • Then, put the baking pan in the oven and cook for six to seven minutes. To be sure, cook the fish until it peels with a fork easily.
